This is a quotation from the book “Wind, Sand and Stars”, from which the founder, the Swiss journalist Edmond Kaiser, took the name; the original French title is “terre des hommes” and we take it to mean “earth of humanity”.

terre des hommes Deutschland is a politically-minded aid organisation focussing on children and supporting about 350 projects in 28 countries. These include school and training projects, initiatives for street children, working children, child  prostitutes and refugee children. It also runs food security and healthcare  programmes
terre des hommes endeavours - through campaigns, lobbying and  publicity - to influence German political and business circles and the general public in the interest of children suffering hunger, exploitation or the aftermath of war.
